Indian military contingent participates in Victory Day Parade in Russia


Defence Minister RAJNATH SINGH said he was extremely proud that a 75-member Tri-service contingent of the Indian Armed Forces participated in the 75th anniversary of the Victory Day Parade at the iconic Red Square here on Wednesday.Singh arrived here on a three-day visit on Tuesday at the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Defence to attend the celebration.

Russia's Victory Day-
Russian Victory Day is a holiday that commemorates the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945. It was first inaugurated in the 15 republics of the Soviet Union, following the signing of the German Instrument of Surrender late in the evening on 8 May 1945 (after midnight, thus on 9 May Moscow Time).


Russian May Day parade-
The Moscow Victory Day Parade (Russian: Парад Победы в Москва, tr. Parad Pobedy v Moskva) refers to the annual military parade of the Russian Armed Forces on Moscow's Red Square every 9 May during the Victory Day celebrations.
